What Can I Expect During Surgery?

Long Term Therapy surgery requires another outpatient procedure to implant the Precision® IPG and Leads. Patients often remain awake during this procedure, under local or light anesthesia.

Your Pain Specialist will make a small incision and place the IPG just beneath the skin.

As with any surgery, the location of the incision will be sore during the healing process. Precision is intended to address your long-term pain, not the temporary pain at the surgery site.

Your Pain Specialist can address any further questions you have about how to prepare for and what to expect from your Long Term Therapy surgery.

Remember that charging your new Precision device may be difficult for the first few weeks following surgery. This is due to the normal swelling that occurs after surgery, as well as surgical dressing. Be sure to follow your doctor’s instructions on caring for the surgery site and using your device.
